Dr. Sophie Christman is a writer/editor/reviewer/teacher.

Dr. Christman is completing a manuscript on political ecology called “The Sustainable Citizen.” She has worked in higher education student support services as a teacher and administrator. Her most recent position includes a Visiting Assistant Professorship in Humanities at the New York Institute of Technology.

She received her Ph.D. in English Literature at SUNY Stony Brook University. In addition to her M.A. in Aesthetics and B.A. in Philosophy, she earned two French language certificates from the Sorbonne. She has published six scholarly articles and three critical reviews. Her research areas include: nineteenth-century literature, cinema studies, and the environmental humanities. Professor Christman is a student-centered teacher and has recently taught the following courses: Foundations of College Composition, Research Writing, Communications for Technical Professions, Modern Drama, Introduction to Fiction, Nature in the Nineteenth Century, Ecopoetics, and The Modern Victorian Environment.
